Above is just one example where donations have supported to make that invaluable difference for the benefit of our Patients. Our Urogynaecology Team based at Pontefract Hospital share below their thanks and offer the detail behind the difference this purchase makes for the Patients in our Care;

We would like to thank MY Hospitals Charity for the purchase of this hand held bladder scanner for the use in Urogynaecology clinics which take place at PGI.  To have this piece of equipment available in the department allows an accurate measurement of residual urine left following passing urine normally.

This investigation assists both or Urogynaecology Consultants, Urogynae nurse specialist and the Registered Nurses like Paula who care for ladies who have difficulty emptying their bladder whether they have had surgery or not.

Being able to assess residual urine this way prevents the passing of a urethral catheter which is invasive and can be distressing for some ladies; reduces the risk of infections from having a catheter passed and is more comfortable than having a catheter passed. Thank you again for assisting our department with the purchase of the bladder scanner
